AFA Award-Winning Outdoor Living Design in Southlake, TX

This award-winning outdoor living project in Southlake, TX, was built to redefine what it means to entertain at home. The homeowner’s goal was clear: create a fully custom, luxury retreat that could comfortably host large gatherings while still feeling inviting for everyday, multi-generational use.

Our design approach centered on maximizing the property’s natural elevation while introducing structure and flow. The result is a “floating” composite deck and structural frame spanning approximately 1,400–1,500 square feet, carefully engineered to overlook the surrounding creek and wildlife.

A multi-gable patio cover, featuring a rich tongue-and-groove ceiling, anchors the space architecturally, while also creating defined zones for cooking, lounging, and welcoming guests. Each area was intentionally designed to feel connected, yet distinct.

This project came with its share of challenges we handled accordingly. We demolished and rebuilt a failing retaining wall, engineered complex framing to support multiple rooflines, and navigated the intricacies of elevated construction. Every detail was custom-made from the high-contrast material palette that highlights the wood's natural grain to integrated features such as dual TVs, heaters, and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen and fireplace.

Completed over an extended timeline beginning in 2024, this multi-phase build required close coordination and precision at every step.

Led by Project Manager Andrea, the end result is a seamless, five-star outdoor living environment, one that not only earned AFA award recognition but, more importantly, delivers a refined, highly functional space for gathering, relaxing, and making lasting memories in Southlake.
